COACHES'
TIMEOUT
120 Leaders.
One Community Conversation.
On September 1, 120 leaders from across St. Joseph called a timeout.
We came together to look honestly at where we are, remember where we said we want to go, and begin talking about what each of us can do to help shape the culture of our community.
Call a Timeout. Come Together. Get a Strategy. Move the Needle.
What We Talked About
The conversation centered on the Community Culture Survey and how St. Joseph’s own voices helped define the standard we are measuring ourselves against.
Over 500 voices helped articulate the kind of community we aspire to be. The survey then asked how consistently those same leadership behaviors show up in everyday life.
What We Heard
Leaders spent time discussing what growth could look like in their own spheres of influence.
A few clear themes emerged:
- Build real relationships.
- Listen before responding.
- Be intentional.
- Lead with humility.
- Share what is working.
- Get outside your own silo.
Much of the conversation focused on the values and mindset it will take to create a healthier culture.
The Hope Question
The conversation then turned to the lowest-scoring survey question:
“I believe our community is headed in the right direction for future generations.”
That became the “move the needle” question.
Leaders talked about what declining hope could mean for young people, families, schools, workforce, and the future of St. Joseph, but also what could begin to change that trajectory.
What Comes Next
Coaches’ Timeout was the conversation.
Now comes the strategy.
Much of what was shared centered on the values we need to live out and the mindset it will take to live them consistently. That is a strong start.
The next step is getting more practical about what we can actually do.
That is where 3D Master Class comes in.
